We all preach to throw out the toxic people in our life so we can live better, but why not throw out the toxic products while we’re at it, too! I’ve had a ton a questions to blog about my beauty products and I kept avoiding it because I didn’t feel like I was educated enough on this subject. I was listening to the influencer podcast the other day and the guest was talking about how the chemicals in our every day life destroy us in the long run, which got me thinking….if I’m going to share beauty on my blog, I need to educate people while I do it.
That day I looked online for cleaner beauty and took one step in a better direction for my health. I giggle to myself because I use to roll my eyes when people would talk about “natural organic cleaner” products, until I did my own research. Spoiler alert, switching beauty products is not cheap people!! So I am doing this little by little, swapping out products as I run out of them, and I’ve decided to share with you my journey since I’m blessed enough to have this platform!
Just so you know, here in the United States, we have 11 cosmetic ingredients completely banned. How great, right? Well, Canada and the EU have over 1,300 banned. I’m not surprised that America allows for all these chemicals to be used, but dang shame on me for not learning about this sooner. Seriously, the US hasn’t passed a law regulating the cosmetic industry since 1938.. WHY AMERICA WHY. Y’all, our skin literally absorbs almost everything we put on it! I mean, it’s literally the largest organ of our body so why are we not being more health conscious towards it? We watch what we put on the inside of our bodies, so why are we avoiding what we put on the outside? Just so you can have a mental image, the average woman puts over 80 chemicals on her body daily between makeup, hair care, and skin care. I’m literally the reason that I feel like crap everyday.
Little fun fact for you, mercury is a trigger for my terrible migraines that I get. Guess where that heavy metal is found…in my skin care products and makeup. What daaaa heck?!!! I have a lot of health issues and I had no idea that products I used every day contributed to them. Ignorance is bliss.
What to avoid?
The company I am using to transfer my products to clean has a list called the never list that you can refer to to know what to avoid in your products! Some products claim to be good for you, but aren’t so do your research. Knowledge is power people!
Trust me, reading labels on products is insane. Like, how the heck am I supposed to know what any of those mean much less if they’re good or bad for me. I can’t even spell them if you ask me to. BUT, they have an app for that. Or a few apps for that to help make it not so…insanely overwhelming. I don’t use an app, because I use only one brand, but “think dirty” is a good one!
How to start?
One product at a time. Seriously, when you start to realize just how many products you use that have toxin’s in it, you’re going to be angry and overwhelmed. I’ve mentioned that it’s expensive. It’s also absolutely absurd to go around your house and throw away $1,000’s of dollars of products and THEN replace them all at once. Like I said earlier, replace the product when you run out of the current one. Body lotion and face lotion would be the two things I would want to switch immediately because these are the products that are staying ON your skin.
Now, not every clean product is going to work for you, just like every bad product doesn’t work for you, and that’s fine. Keep trying.
My Personal Decision
AND NOW what you actually came here for because my DM’s have been popppin’ and I refused to tell you guys because I wanted to really get the feel of the products. PS. THIS IS NOT SPONSORED. I BOUGHT THESE MYSELF. These are the CLEAN products I’ve switched to.
I’m writing a blog post going into full detail about the products and my complete review on them, but until then, I’ll just introduce you guys to the decision I made since a lot of you were interested! Don’t forget to subscribe to my website, because you’re not going to want to miss that post!
Face Wash: This is what I use to clean my face every morning and every night. My skin literally feels clean ALL DAY.
Exfoliator: I legit saw a difference from ONE use of this, I was blown away. My skin is like a babies butt. I only exfoliate my face 2 times a week.
Spot Treatment: I have acne spots from the last skin care routine that I had, where I was still uncontrollably, or so I thought, breaking out. I’m using this to get rid of them, so I can have clear skin again!
Resurfacing Peel: I’m using this to improve my skin texture!
I encourage you to be mindful about the products that you are using in your everyday life. Switch clean because you deserve to feel better. If you have any questions, email my at firstname.lastname@example.org or DM me on instagram. I’ll be glad to help you along this new learning journey!!!
